Excellent viewpoint by ⁦@Dr_N_Moss and ⁦⁦@TabarViviane⁩ highlighting how the landscape of brain met management is changing and how brain mets should really be thought of as a distinct disease requiring expert multidisciplinary management:

I hope my story can make others who have experienced such a loss feel slightly less alone. Baby LG #2, our time together was short-lived, but you will forever be a part of our family. Some resources I have found on my journey below.

Miscarriage may be common but also traumatizing. Take space for yourself. Take time for yourself. Take care of yourself. Although healing may seem impossible, allow yourself the opportunity to try. Treat yourself like you would treat one of your patients.

I share my story as a woman resident in medicine today to say that residency is hard enough without having to feel alone and hide your grief (and this goes not just for women in medicine but in any role).

The next day, for the first time in 10 years, I took a personal day. I slept in. I went for a run. I cried and cried and cried.

After the cramping and severe bleeding ensued, the second ultrasound showed that the gestational sac was gone. "There is no baby,” the Radiologist said. Within the span of one hour, our lives had changed forever. Our hearts had shattered into a million little pieces.

The first picture above shows our ultrasound before the bleeding got severe; we could see a gestational sac and yolk sac but no fetal heartbeat yet.

We could not wait for Aliya to be a big sister. I remember feeling joy at the first signs of morning sickness, of the all-consuming first trimester exhaustion. knowing in my heart that this meant our baby was starting to grow.

Although we had only known I was pregnant for several weeks, those several weeks had been filled with joy, excitement, love, and hope for our future, growing family. We had already begun to love Baby #2 with all our hearts.

Yet, despite this high prevalence, miscarriages are often not spoken about. Each woman’s journey is different, and while I cannot speak to each individual woman’s experience with miscarriage, for me, miscarriage was traumatic, isolating, and heart-breaking.
