Mr. Roundtree and Mr. Ealey paved the way for today’s Bus Operators in Jacksonville with their bravery, professionalism, and passion for public service. They chose to be two of the first Black men to drive a public bus in 1960. In 2022, we still stand on their shoulders.
Last week, we had a conversation with two of Jacksonville's "Original 8" Black Bus Operators, Mr. Algernon Roundtree and Mr. Amos Ealey. They shared their story and recalled what life was like driving a bus in the early 1960s. https://t.co/VqRUnbpva9

Yesterday we had the honor of hosting two trailblazers - Mr. Algernon Roundtree and Mr. Amos Ealey. These men are two of Jacksonville's first Black Bus Operators, starting in October 1960 with the Jacksonville Coach Company. Thank you for sharing your stories with us!

It’s an honor to stand with leaders like President Newby, and members of the @CityofJax Safety & Crime Reduction Commission to launch a new initiative to provide greater access to mental health resources. The bus behind us is on the street to share that message! #EndTheStigmaJax
