I don’t know how many wins and losses we’ll have this year. I do know this though, I’m right where I need to be in life. Watching these boys turn into young men and learn to push through their comfort zone is worth every second. Some starting to believe for the first time!

After scouting amateurs all fall and spring, organizations send their scouts to cover pro ball in the summer. They do this to “refresh their eyes” on what it’s supposed to look like! If you watch snails long enough, turtles look fast! We need to “refresh our eyes” in society!

I don’t see a lot of hitting gurus being actual on the field coaches. When you are on the field trying to win a game comparing your hitters swing to Mike Trout does nothing. Balance, on time, see ball, hit ball, compete. Hitters hit, they’ve always hit. Stop making it so hard

Parents: Educate yourself son JUCO baseball. How many former JC players are on every Power 5 roster. How many former JC players in MLB. Financially better option. Make sure your ego does not get in the way of your sons development. Such a good option!
Why Juco? 100% scholarship (most cases) vs 25% scholarship. 2 seasons (fall and spring), immediate playing time (most cases), smaller classes, less restrictions on coach's time spent with players, draft options open, learn to grind.

I have a problem when I address 6-12 year olds specializing in 1 sport, playing 70-100 games a year, and the parents telling me yeah but my kid just loves it. He’s eaten up by it. Kids love cake too and if they eat to much of it then they shit their pants. Be the adult!

It always blows me away with HS recruiting. A talented kid that is a late bloomer gets 1 offer and then has 6 more afterwards. Why does it take 1 coach saying yes for the others to? Or why are you saying yes just because someone else did? Always makes me curious.

Just saw another one of my former 2024’s. That group has 1 Vanderbilt commit, 1 DBU commit, 2 Tulane commits, 1 ORU commit, and there will be a lot of JC commits when it’s all said and done. Not 1 ranked at the time (13 and 14 yr old). It’s called DEVELOPMENT!

Talkin to my baseball buddy and mentor last night. Main topic coaches want it more than their players. Epidemic at all levels and sports. It’s a competitive problem. A generation of kids were taught it’s ok to lose as long as you tried. Adults have let down an entire generation.

Last night at Putnam City HS all 3 PC high schools were there. All 3 fan bases were there. The environment was intense and loud. Putnam City District baseball was alive last night. Fun night. Has to happen every year!

Hitting coaches need to teach kids how to be able to compete in the box against a pitcher. It’s that simple. Stop teaching them how to hit like a big leaguer who was ability and attributes 99% of kids don’t have. Give them a chance to reach THEIR ceiling!

Got 5 new organizations popping up every year just in Oklahoma. “National” organizations coming in and selling a uniform. Uncompetitive teams too. Poor kids are paying for the “National” team to travel around for free. The adults are the ones to blame

There’s no substitute for COMPETITIVE game reps. Plain and simple. Play more COMPETITIVE games kids. Stop playing non COMPETITIVE baseball. The results are almost impossible to fix. Coaches can’t fix kids who don’t know how to COMPETE! It’s all sports and it’s nationwide!
