Just had my first experience of homophobia with a patient.
I’m devastated that I didn’t stand up for myself, I’m proud of myself for staying professional and I’m gutted that I’ve been called names by someone I’m caring for, just for being who I am.

This thread has really made me think about people I take into hospital.
I think from now on, I’ll be leaving a note at home with the patients consent if we can’t call someone. Detailing if they’re okay and where I’m taking them.
What an absolutely awful ordeal for this family…
A few days ago I found out my 86yr old mum with dementia had had a fall & been admitted to hospital
I didn’t know which hospital so had to cold call the ones in the area
No luck
I thought this can’t be so called them all again
Fortunately I got a different receptionist at one….

Today was an incredibly good day. A huge thank you to my dad, sister and other half for coming and supporting me.
I was so nervous that I would fall over or something, but the Prince of Wales was amazing and so kind, completely put me at ease.

So my take home pay is approx £2100… then take out my childcare, energy bills, rent and car insurance (things i HAVE to pay) and I’m struggling.
Food, essentials for my little one, phone bills as a single parent?
How can you be so blind to the lived experience?
I respect the profession, but £32,244 and using a foodbank? Never heard such a ridiculous thing in my life. I earned a lot less than that for most of my teaching career and so do many of my constituents. If true, which is unlikely, I suggest learning how to budget and prioritise.

This does NOT mean deploy all of your breastfeeding soldiers because they ‘can’. This was achieved through a good support network and planning which i was comfortable with. My CoC even safely transported my milk back to camp.
