Additionally, most marriages operate within religious confines, leading to absolute disaster, especially for women. There is no remodelling patriarchy. You simply cannot win in an institution not designed for you. Feminism is about dismantling patriarchy not editing it.
Marriage is a microcosm of patriarchy. You want women to distance themselves from religion, an oppressive institution, but you donât want to distance yourself from marriage, an equally oppressive institution. You canât fully dismantle the masterâs house while living in it.
