“The weapon seized last week by staff @ Coxsackie easily could have been used as a deadly weapon if it got into the hands of an inmate. Thankfully, staff do an excellent job processing visitors & recovering weapons & drugs that they attempt to smuggle into inmates"-@_ChrisMoreau.

With this benefit, our seasoned officers can stay on post retirement age to properly train the next generation who will be tasked with keeping New York safe. Now we need Governor Kathy Hochul to #SignTheBill.

Thank you @jonesnyassembly @SenatorRJackson for your efforts getting "Death Gamble" legislation passed. In extending this benefit to COs & hospital security staff, NY can ensure that our most experienced members can remain on the job past retirement w/o family financial risk.

"As we approach the summer months and the warmer weather, there will no doubt be more incidents like the gang violence that occurred at Coxsackie last week." - NYSCOPBA MidHudson Region VP @_ChrisMoreau. State data shows a 71% increase in 5-person fights in NYS prisons since HALT.

Its shameful that @nysensepulveda and @JuliaCarmel__ simply want to "be" right, and not "get it" right. They have an opportunity to protect everyone, yet more and more people, staff and incarcerated alike, continue to needlessly suffer because of their refusal to #repealHALT.

Since HALT, violence in prisons has skyrocketed & staff are experiencing the worst prison conditions in NYS history. Meanwhile, @NYSenDems continue to bury their collective heads in the sand & claim there is no connection between HALT and the violence. The data tells the truth.

To continue to use decades-old personal stories to describe what modern-day conditions in a Special Housing Unit are like is deliberately misleading. The state data tells the real story, violence in prisons spiked the day HALT was implemented and hasn't wavered since. #repealHALT.
In March, a report by the Correctional Association of New York (CANY), which conducts independent prison oversight visits, found that DOCCS had held inmates in isolation for upwards of six times the legal limit.

At what point will @NYSenateDems @NYSA_Majority admit HALT did not make NY prisons safer? We have over a year's worth of state-tracked data and countless real life examples where those emboldened by the HALT Act attack staff and inmates alike with no repercussions. #repealHALT.

Nearly 2 dozen female NYS correction officers recently attended a meeting of the @NYSLWC to explain how the HALT Act has negatively impacted them. These brave women of NYSCOPBA need to be protected from sexual harassment and sexual assault too. #repealHALT

"HALT has created a new baseline of violence in NY's correctional facilities as the number of violent assaults has skyrocketed over 30% since it's implementation last year. The @NYSenateDems @NYSA_Majority never gave DOCCS the resources HALT requires.".
