An overwhelming majority of New Yorkers support this proposal. I am hopeful that the majorities will quickly send this bill to the governor for her consideration and that she will sign it into law because cash should be an option everywhere.

New Yorkers need relief. This package of legislation will help to provide that to them by combating rising energy costs and making our state more affordable, which will help to stop the mass exodus from New York.

It was a pleasure to attend the 200th anniversary celebration for Zion Episcopal Church this weekend. I presented a Senate Resolution commemorating this significant anniversary to the congregation of this historic church, which continues to be a pillar of Rome community.

I’ve talked w/ Oneida Superintendent Matt Carpenter to ascertain where and how my office can help the district. I don’t believe remote learning is the best option at this time and will continue to work with school officials, SED and other partners.

As I have reiterated many times to the governor, legislative majorities, PSC, Thruway Authority and other state agencies, any rate, fee or toll increase is unacceptable and should not be implemented while so many New Yorkers are struggling.

The Terrace at Woodland in Rome was the place to be this evening as the Floyd Band entertained residents, their families and the facility’s staff. I appreciate the invitation to visit the assisted living community and having the opportunity to interact with everyone there.

It was a pleasure to attend this morning’s unveiling of historic marker at St. Peter’s Church in Rome. Thank you to all those who worked on making this happen and the William G. Pomeroy Foundation for their support and recognition of historic locations throughout New York State.

The Herkimer County Fair opens today (Preview Day, no rides) and runs until Sunday, Aug. 17. The fair showcases and celebrates the region's farming community and offers a variety of entertainment.

I was honored to acknowledge Kenneth's birthday with a NYS Senate Proclamation and to have previously presented a NYS Senate Liberty Medal - one of the highest civilian honors a New Yorker can receive - to him in recognition of his remarkable life and service to our nation.

Happy 100th birthday, Kenneth! Kenneth, a Clinton resident, is a shining example of America’s Greatest Generation, an inspiration to many and an exceptional person.

The Purple Heart Medal is the military’s oldest medal of honor and is given to soldiers wounded or killed in combat. On behalf of a grateful state and nation, we thank the recipients of the Purple Heart Medal for their bravery and heroism.

I greatly enjoyed getting to know each of them. It was a pleasure having them tag along as I traveled in the district and to give them a tour of the Capitol in Albany. Both are exceptional individuals, and I wish them well in all their future endeavors.

Slán (goodbye) and go n-éirí leat (good luck) to Mary Kate and Madison, interns from Project Children in Ireland. These two young adults - and future leaders - will be heading home later this week after spending most of their summer in the 53rd Senate District.

Good luck to the NY Robins Fastpitch softball team as they compete internationally in Italy. The squad features talented student-athletes and coaches from school districts and communities across Central New York and the Mohawk Valley, including many from my Senate District.

A big announcement today that Utica will be hosting the 2026-28 Special Olympics for the organization’s New York chapter. This event is expected to draw more than 1,000 athletes, along with their families,and many visitors to the city, county and region.
