It's a terrible tax which unnecessarily slows the housing market down & deters people from moving. Weird that even 13% are opposed.
63% of Britons support abolishing stamp duty on the purchase of main homes, as Kemi Badenoch pledged yesterday Only 13% are opposed Results link in following tweet

I think his attempts to link Jews being murdered by an ISIS supporter to "middle-aged white men" putting flags up, was ridiculous... But as ridiculous as it was, it's his opinion; I wouldn't want him sacked from Sky because of it. Then again, I'm not a middle-aged white man.
92% of people want Gary Neville to be sacked by Sky Sports for having an opinion they don't like. What has the world come to? 🤯

Not as tricky when you look at the insane ballooning of the welfare state, and thousands being signed off every day because of buzzwords they're told to use by tiktokers.
Stamp duty is a pretty terrible tax - it's not very progressive, puts a brake on the economy, stops people moving for work & prevents downsizing that could free up space. So it's a good thing for Tories to announce its abolition. Where £11-15bn a year comes from is the tricky bit

Tell me you understand absolutely nothing about how the property market works, without actually telling me. And he's supposed to be a journalist.
Scrapping stamp duty is a hugely expensive handout to people who already own property. It will do almost nothing for people trying to buy their first home. Also it's a tax that people hardly ever pay, and almost never think about. I don't understand why people are excited by

Stamp duty is the worst tax Britain has. It makes the housing shortage significantly worse by penalising people for downsizing and stopping people from moving around to better jobs. There is literally no better tax cut for growth you can do than getting rid of it.

It’s now 27 years since I was made redundant and given a few grand. I decided that if I was careful, I could live off the money for 6 months trying to become a comedian before I had to get another job. I was 37. Worth a punt.

More tweets from @ZiaYusufUK banging on about DOGE savings, than actual pounds saved. Colour me shocked.

Keir Starmer must meet Jagtar Singh Johal’s family before travelling to India this week. The nine cases brought against him since 2017 clearly breach the double jeopardy principle and he was cleared of all charges in one case as recently as March. Jagtar is being arbitrarily
