An early example of the Victoria Cross was found on the shores of the River Thames in 2015. Research has narrowed down the list of its possible owners to two heroic soldiers of the Crimean War. This VC is now on display in Soldier Gallery. Find out more -

At 8.32 pm on 10 November 1920, a train carrying the body of an unidentified British serviceman arrived at Victoria Station. He would be buried at @wabbey the next day, immortalised as the #UnknownWarrior. To mark this centenary, we've opened a small exhibition in the station.

Research shows that animals deter predators with markings that look like eyes. We're trialling a system of putting googly eyes on large installations to prevent visitors from touching them. It looks a bit weird, but hope you appreciate that this is for conservation reasons.

1/3 Sgt Ernest Trimmer was captured by German forces in 1941 and ended up at Stalag 383, a prisoner of war camp in Bavaria. While there, he made this beautiful LNER engine out of cocoa tins and Red Cross parcel packaging. All the doors and wheels work. #TwitterModelTrainShow

As we marked the 100th #ArmisticeDay today with a schools service of Remembrance, Sgt Stuart Laing of 1st Battalion @WelshGuards played The Last Post. The bugle Sgt Laing used is over 104 years old. It was used during the First World War and was reportedly dug up at the Somme.

Today we were honoured to host the unveiling of a bust of General Wɫadysɫaw Anders, brought about by @anna_m_anders @instytutandersa @britishpoles @ArkadyRzegocki & @fundacjaskarbow. The bust is now on display here, a striking symbol of the shared history of Poland and the UK.
