The #PostalService delivered 1.2 billion prescriptions in 2019! Because of the USPS, 70-year-old Army veteran Jack Bainbridge doesn't have to make a 90-mile round trip to the VA Medical Center to get his prescriptions. He simply walks to his mailbox.

When she heard a fire alarm go off inside an apartment complex on her route, carrier Dixie Manns rushed to help people in the building that housed mostly elderly residents. She banged on residents' doors, asked them to evacuate & called 911. Dixie saved the lives of 40 people.

When a 9-year-old boy ran up to him asking for help, carrier Patrick Twohig followed the boy, whose mother was unconscious at home. Patrick called 911 & administered CPR until emergency responders arrived. Patrick is a member of Staten Island, NY Branch 99. #HeroesDelivering

After she heard cries for help coming from an apartment, carrier Susan Pineault rushed to see what had happened. An elderly customer who had fallen inside her apartment had crawled to a sliding door, calling for help. Susan helped the woman get back on her feet. #HeroesDelivering

While delivering to an apartment building, carrier Peter Farrell heard loud cries for help. The carrier then saw the woman escaping her apartment. She appeared to have been severely beaten & had broken ribs. Peter called 911 & waited with the woman until police arrived. #Heroes

During a route inspection w/her supervisor, carrier Megan Mosher noticed a customer lying on his garage floor. Since the man was unresponsive, she asked her supervisor to call 911. Meantime, the customer regained his consciousness & told Megan that he had fallen and hit his head.

While delivering on his route, letter carrier Dion Carotenuto spotted an undetonated pipe bomb on the ground in a customer's yard--it was near a school bus stop. The carrier immediately called 911. Emergency responders secured the area and safely removed the explosive device.

Dear @ACTBrigitte : The free market has solved the problem. It costs $24.30 to send a letter via FedEx from LA to DC with 3 day delivery. (Higher for rural areas). Or I can pay $0.55 to USPS. USPS is an essential, constitutionally mandated service, not a for profit corp. Get it?

While talking to his elderly customer, letter carrier Anthoney Mitchell noticed that the man was slurring his words. Anthoney called 911. The carrier later found out that the man had had a blood clot in his brain. It was Anthoney's timely action that saved the man's life. #Heroes

When he saw a customer's garage on fire, carrier Joshua Detlef rushed to help. While a neighbor called 911, Joshua alerted people in the house and evacuated them. He then sheltered the family inside his postal vehicle. Firefighters thanked Joshua for his quick action. #Heroes

When Gwynn noticed her customer lying face-down on the ground on her route, she rushed to help. Since the man was not fully conscious, she called 911. Paramedics took the man to the hospital. The customer's son and the paramedic who treated the man later praised Gwynn. #Heroes

While delivering on his route, Jeffrey Boyd rushed to help a customer who had fallen in her driveway. Jeffrey called 911 & comforted the woman until paramedics arrived. In a note to the local post office, the woman wrote that Jeffrey "went out of his way to make sure I was OK.”
