ALPA Pilot Assistance Chair Capt. Travis Ludwig (@UnitedPilots) briefs the Executive Board on mental health legislation—current progress on Capitol Hill, ALPA’s work, and its impact on pilots and other aviation professionals.

“Together we’ve done a great job of moving ALPA forward, and I’m confident that we’ll continue moving forward together," he said, concluding his update.

“Our Major Contingency Fund—our ‘war chest’—is essentially maxed out. It’s a great testament to the ALPA leadership over the past decade that identified the need to replenish this resource and then prioritized it year after year."

“We represent pilots at airlines seeing record-breaking profits—and pilots at airlines that are struggling,” said Clapper. “But that’s the point of a union: to pick up those who are down when they need a hand.”

Clapper shared updates on our union's strong financial position, continued growth, and commitment to responsible stewardship.

“As the ALPA treasurer, I can tell you with certainty: ALPA is in a very strong financial position,” said ALPA Vice President–Finance/Treasurer Capt. Wes Clapper, opening his report to the Executive Board.

“The spirit of solidarity is where our greatest strength lies—and it’s the key to our progress in moving forward.”

“Developing a sense of ownership builds cooperation across airline brands. It’s critical if ALPA’s longstanding motto of pilots serving pilots is to continue.”

“ALPA members are the caretakers of this organization,” he said. “If they want a voice in the direction of their profession, they need to take possession of it.”
