toilets are too far away to nip to in between periods. People underestimate how demeaning and morale sapping it is to have to share facilities with teenagers who don’t clean up after themselves. #teacherlife

Back to school and back to sharing toilets with pupils. Having to wipe someone else’s urine off the toilet seat is a ridiculously frequent occurrence for me. Since covid, all previously locked single toilets are now unlocked. Being pregnant I need the loo frequently and the staff

Feels like a good day to remind ourselves that MVP explores the whole scope of violence including verbal and emotional. The violence triangle/pyramid supports young people to understand that challenging words and attitudes matters. This is where the hard work begins!

Teaching with a sore throat is always interesting. Feel like I’m swallowing broken glass. Thankful that my students were relatively sympathetic today. #teacherlife #teacherlurgy

I don’t say this lightly - I had a great INSET today. I learnt how to build a digital escape room, a bit of coding and had interesting discussions on promoting positive behaviours and the challenges faced by young boys in education. Great to mix with lots of different staff too.

Possibly one of the best CPD courses I’ve been on today with @MVPScot. Great discussion with so much to learn and do. Really excited to work with our senior mentors and see what impact they’ll have in the school community. #genderbasedviolence #MVP

Toxic masculinity and casual misogyny are a problem and it’s hard to identify and challenge all the micro aggressions that occur. We need more positive male role models coming into schools, the male teachers can only do so much.

Passed my course run by @DyslexiaAction on Dyslexia and Co-occurring difficulties. Really beneficial to explore the challenges that arise for learners with dyslexia and I'm keen to ensure it has a tangible impact in my classroom. Self funding CPD isn't ideal but £270 well spent.
