First heard of Star Carr in Greg Jenner’s Stone Age book. Visited the Yorkshire Museum to see the Mesolithic artefacts and enjoyed this book while paddling in the Mediterranean Sea. Managed to keep it dry when the sea took me off my feet too! 🦌

Good Enough To Eat by Gina Blaxill has a Gretel to be pitied, admired and feared in this more grown up retelling of the well-known tale. Stepmother is developed into a really meanie and nobody should eat a “tasty” pie from a woman who lives in a magical gingerbread house! 👦🥧

Consider myself very fortunate to have revisited Cosima and the rest of the ‘unfortunates’ for another adventure. A different version of Victorian London which is often touching, too often infuriating and always full of ♥️ , invention and action. Thanks @EKCBradley @lauranoakes

Love @edgechristopher historical work so The Black Crow Conspiracy did not disappoint. Theft and royal kidnappings against a backdrop of Penny Dreadfuls, the coronation of King Edward and lots of Science - x-rays, Marie Curie and Wilhelm Rontgen - whose name I now know. Loved it!
