In theory, a full inclusion model is the equitable way forward. But the success of this effort relies on investments in human resources and training that boards cannot afford with funding cuts. Inclusion without the proper supports in place is abandonment.

The change, being piloted during the 2024-2025 year, means there will no longer be dedicated communication classes led by a specialized teacher.

Adjusted for inflation, Ontario’s education spending is down 11% since Doug Ford’s election in 2018. The policy choice to underfund schools is felt by students, teachers and parents everyday in classrooms across Ontario. #onted #onpoli

Do we actually want high quality public education for children in #OntEd or simply the warehousing of children so that adults can work? How we fund public education shows our values. Education is one of the most important investments we can make.

As education workers we all have a story about violence & harassment in our workplace. This is a great space to have our voices heard! Heads up @Sflecce & @fordnation - you are not going to like what you hear. You have failed education workers, students & families
University of Ottawa has teamed up w/ OSBCU & other ed unions to conduct a survey regarding violence & harassment in our workspaces. We are encouraging ALL OSBCU education workers to participate, regardless of classification. Ensure your voice and experience is heard! #SpeakUp

The demands placed on EAs are immense! Supporting students with diverse needs is no small task It's disheartening that the lack of respect from the employer/gov is driving talented individuals away from this vital role We need better support and recognition for EAs in #OntEd
Disappointed to hear that the @PeelSchools EA Mentor Appreciation Luncheon has been cancelled again, due to a shortage of EAs 🤔 Supporting educators is crucial for retention & I hope for a swift resolution to this staffing challenge 🤷♀️ #EdWorkersMatters #OntEd

With our announcement on #onted bargaining, we wanted to ensure that parents are fully informed. 📢 It is a normal process of labour relations in Ontario. 📢 It is an attempt at resolution. 📢 It is a request for 3rd-party assistance. More https://t.co/OS5vMLRqQf

Trading in the right to strike for binding interest arbitration is a minefield for the union movement. @stephross_mac and I explain why👇 https://t.co/YF2HopKLAx

I’ve been teaching for 17 years and have walked a picket line 7 days…7. Not “never ending”. All 7 of those days was because a government was trying to push an austerity agenda and vilify teachers; at all times my Charter rights were being violated. #onted #etfo #onpoli
“I think the cost of strikes, the economic impact to working parents, the mental health impacts, the physical impacts, the academic regression in reading, writing and math – there’s a huge cost to neverending strikes in Ontario.” https://t.co/NiCW3VHXTO

An announcement of a strike vote does NOT mean schools will be closed in September. This information will help you to understand what a strike vote is and what types of work action may be considered before a full withdrawal of services is considered.
