They’re scared of the strength of the OSBCU and our 57,000 members at the bargaining table next year. And they should be.

But our fight doesn’t end here. This is just the beginning. OSBCU has stood up to this government before, and we’ll keep standing up.

This direct attack on education workers—and the students we support—is a clear sign the Ford government is gearing up for a tough bargaining year in 2026.

Let’s be clear: Bill 33 won’t fix a single issue in our schools. It will only silence the people trying to fix them.

Instead of fixing the crisis, this government is consolidating power and silencing the voices of education workers, students, parents, and communities sounding the alarm.

EAs and ECEs supporting thousands of students without the care they need. Custodians who need more time and staff to keep schools safe and clean. Clerical staff drowning in massive workloads. Every classification is overworked and understaffed.

These appointed supervisors are being paid upwards of $350,000 a year. Imagine how many frontline education workers that could fund.

Bill 33 strips away democratic oversight by replacing elected trustees with unelected, government-appointed supervisors who answer only to Doug Ford and Minister Paul Calandra.
