Outcomes lift children out of poverty. Outcomes are what lifted me out of poverty.
If we want to break the link between background & success then statements such as grades don’t make kids happy need to go where they belong, in a bin. Of course we want kids to enjoy school & learning but grades matter & open up so many doors for them.

@AAWoodfields . and I know this year group are all capable of brilliance. I can't wait to see what they do next. As I kept reminding them, I'm not leaving, and I know they're in excellent hands. But I'll definitely miss starting their day every morning.

Still recovering from my final morning meeting leading Co2029. While handing out their achievement awards, I was interrupted for an "important announcement" and presented with the most thoughtful.

What an amazing opportunity for our scholars, all of whom behaved beautifully throughout. Sad to have missed @Number10cat on this occasion, but a brilliant day nonetheless.
Today Woodfields went to @UKParliament and stopped by @10DowningStreet thanks to @SallyJameson. Everyone had a fantastic time and we are exceptionally grateful to Sally for making this possible. Thanks also to @ricardo_smooth1, Mr Gittins and @MrsAndrewsEng for the trip.

A brilliant day to kick off the final week of the year! Absolutely wonderful to hear the scholars all cheering for each other and those of us who braved the staff relay team.
What an absolute privilege. It’s sports day at @aawoodfields and the records have been falling through the day. We’re now ready for the relays, and the all star staff relays. So exciting!

I was fortunate enough to accompany some @AAWoodfields class of 2029 scholars on this wonderful visit. Huge thanks to Sabrina for hosting and to the current students for sharing their experiences. Some brilliant conversations on the way home about university aspirations.
@AAWoodfields We were delighted to welcome a wonderful group of scholars to @HomertonCollege today! Students received a talk on Higher Education, a live Q&A with current students, a college tour and even aced some real #Cambridgeuniversity interview questions! 🧑🏫📚✍️

At the end of a remarkably difficult day, two of my scholars presented me with a song they'd written about me in their music lesson. I've cropped out their names to save their embarrassment, but they have absolutely nailed this! (To the tune of Espresso by Sabrina Carpenter)
