The next round of strong winds will arrive by this afternoon. Gusty winds will linger all the way into Tuesday even as the direction shifts from southerly to westerly.

Southerly winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts as high as 60 mph can be expected across Chautauqua County this morning, spreading into the Niagara Frontier this afternoon. Winds will diminish on Saturday. Strong winds may blow down trees and power lines.

Areas of fog will continue this morning. The fog will be most dense and widespread across Western NY. Temperatures are near the freezing mark in many areas, which may result in moisture from fog producing patchy icy spots on roads, parking lots, and sidewalks.

It will be snowy across western and north-central NY to start the week. Widespread wet snow will move across the region today with minor accumulations. Lake enhancement will begin tonight and heavy snow is possible across Chautauqua County through Monday night.

While it will be mainly dry for much of the area through the early overnight hours, areas of freezing drizzle will be possible closer to Lake Ontario, and may produce slick spots on area roads and walkways. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for these areas thru 4 AM Sunday.

A mixed bag of precip will overspread the area Wed, with rain across the Southern Tier, wintry mix including freezing rain south of Lk Ontario, and snow east of Lk Ontario. Marginal temperatures near freezing and the higher February sun angle may help to keep roads mainly wet.
