UK's whiter than white universities: "Data shows that out of 17,880 professors only 85 were black, 950 were Asian, 365 were “other” (including mixed race). There are just 17 black female professors in the entire British university system." @theculturecraft https://t.co/hetk3IAaNB

It’s time race equality was practised in the academy, not just preached.

So happy #GEAConf2019 is being held in my hometown of Portsmouth. All ready for the pre-conf day symposia. Giving a workshop with @Jess_Gagnon & on the ECR panel. If any delegates throughout the week need any advice on the city, a lift or anything give me a shout @genderanded

6/8: We know that academic attainment at both school & undergraduate level is significantly associated with ethnic background, therefore any over-reliance on academic attainment in the short-listing process disproportionately affects BME applicants.

If you couldnt attend my talk yesterday on increasing diversity in Clinical Psychology (#DiversifyClinPsy) I'll try summarize it in 8 Tweets (it was quite long!) 1/8: People from BME backgrounds have been under-represented in CP training for years but NOT because they dont apply!

What's impt to know is that ethnic min students are less likely to get a good degree *even when* you take account of their prior attainment, age & gender. Many reasons but BME academic role models matter too.
