September 30 is a day to honour Survivors of residential schools, their families, and the generations impacted by the deep injustices of colonization. It’s also a day for all of us to pause, reflect, and commit to reconciliation in meaningful ways. 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡

In June, thousands from Sandy Lake First Nation were forced to flee their homes as wildfires spread. Before the CAF, they lined the beach with their boats desperate to escape. This week the kids made some new memories during mental health week here. They learned to Paddleboard.

To all the parents out there please have a conversation with your children about digital literacy and the harm in sharing graphic content with young minds that are forming. The reality is you can’t protect them from everything, but there are many ways you can.

Honoured to be in Sandy Lake First Nation for World Suicide Prevention Day. Indigenous peoples face suicide rates three times the national average in Canada. Every life is valuable. Every life matters. 🧡

Today I am in Sandy Lake First Nation for World Suicide Prevention Day. Last night I helped run an arts and crafts night so youth could make posters for people to carry during the walk today to honour the lives lost this past year.

I was met at the Sandy Lake First Nation this morning by the Mental Health team from the Department of Health and taken to the motel to check in and then they said we have to go get you your truck. This is the truck. Wish me luck.

Three years ago today- the final crossing of the Great Lakes: Lake Ontario. The 21 hour Lake crossing into Toronto was the 2nd attempt of Lake Ontario and the completion of the journey for youth mental health in Canada. Thank you to all the incredible people I met along the way.
