I'm thrilled to see this paper out, which I co-led with @DitchOntologist, and featuring input from loads of excellent co-authors. It's our interdisciplinary perspective on ditches; what they do, why they matter, and how we should look after them. https://t.co/eKzTKzUwT6

Peaty people: we're hosting a special issue in the Taylor & Francis journal Sustainable Environment. Do consider submitting to it - the scope is broad and multidisciplinary. #PeatTwitter

In the lab today - three boxes of water samples (two from UK lowland peat ditches, one from South African lakes) to run for UV-vis today, to give data on dissolved organic matter.

Above the picturesque City of Oxford sits a ticking environmental timebomb. It symbolises much of what is wrong wrong with our broken environmental protections. Without anyone in authority apparently noticing or doing anything to stop them, organised waste gangsters have dumped

And today our MSc students took their bog samples into the lab - measuring N, P and DOM composition in water, and pH and EC in soil extracts.
A really fun day at Risley Moss with our @LivUni MSc students. Peat coring, pool biogeochemistry, and vegetation ID. Loads of enthusiasm from the students.

Peaty folk - what loggers are you all using for water table these days? In the past I've used TruTracks (cheap but frequently break) and Troll 500s (great, but pricey). Any suggestions? #PeatTwitter

Very happy to have this magnificient blanket bog added to @ECT_UK's register of long-term experiments. #PeatTwitter
We are delighted to add Migneint Bog long-term peat rewetting/drainage expt to ECT's national register. Running for 14yrs on @nationaltrust land, it is managed by @MikePeacock86 @livuni. See our register of 39 currently-active LTEs: https://t.co/T7IPNcW12t

Anyone for a nice refreshing cup of DOC? This is a really neat paper.
New paper alert! - In very nice new study led Michael Muir, we present a simple technique for citizen science (and beyond) use to quantify DOC in mugs of water with nothing but a smart phone camera! Fully open access. https://t.co/f2Gk99YdoJ

16 months later; a disappointing reply from @SpringerNature. They ignored the copying from Islam et al. 2019. Direct violation of journal policy: “quotation marks are used for verbatim copying of material”.
Wow, awful plagiarism of one of our papers here. I wonder if they stole text from anyone else? Definitely going to be emailing the authors and the editor. https://t.co/7HbX0raIOu

Our session on aquatic ecosystems and greenhouse gases will be running again at #EGU26. Why not get ahead of the post-Christmas last-minute rush and submit an abstract unfashionably early?

It's Thursday which can only mean one thing: lab day for our 1st year undergrads. My students are out on campus enjoying the sunshine and measuring CO2 emissions from grasses and soils.
