Brilliant news! Well done Mr Pryatt CEA and @thestreetly for their vision and support. Every school should take note: it’s not just about assessment, its about improving the quality of teaching and learning.
Congratulations to Mr Pyatt on his designation as a Chartered Educational Assessor (incorporated by the Royal Charter). Many thanks to Dr @MickGWalker for starting us out on our journey to look at effective assessment for our students. (Sorry Mr P. This is the only pic we have)

Daisy’s work is always worth reading. Amongst other things, I hope this blog reminds folks to always consider what it is they want to assess, why, how, when, and what they intend to do with outcomes. These questions apply at every level.
Interesting approach to measure "Potential learning skills" through "Dynamic assessments" methods (@daisychristo). I also recommend the first cited paper. By the way, I wonder what countries have a Primary School End Test (PSET) as in Netherlands.

I think Tim has reached the right conclusion. I find this an anodyne report that in reality presents evidence to underpin what is largely a justification for the remit. More on the impact of accountability would be welcome. The real work starts from here: I wish them well.

Then we agree Haili.
@MickGWalker Yeah if you read the thread that's pretty much what it says :) there's a range of stakeholders opinions and wisdom needed but not at the expense of those doing the actual work.

Teachers should have a voice and an influential one. But we also need wisdom. Schools serve the ambitions of our society. As such others have a claim to a voice.
Singapore has a system where anyone serving in the Ministry, working nationally on education still teaches. These positions only last for 3 years before they return to the classroom. Seems really sensible to me as those writing policy etc have credibility & proper understanding.

Agreed, there needs to be a balance here. I worry though that the current review is focused on subjects, the National Curriculum. There’s more to the curriculum than subjects, like what is the purpose of schooling for example? A broad consensus on purpose would steer direction.
Teaching fewer concepts in greater depth sounds like a great idea, and in some places it might work. But it overlooks the fact that breadth of content often enables depth of conceptual understanding. Cut the content and you cut understanding too.
