We invite you to join our Sherwood family on Tuesday, June 20, to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Michael C. Catt. Visitation will be in the Atrium from 10 am – 12:30 pm, then a Celebration Service in the Worship Center at 1:30 pm. We will livestream the service.

Sherwood Church is saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Michael C. Catt, our beloved fifth pastor who faithfully shepherded Sherwood for 31 years. Join us in prayer for the Catt family and all those who knew Michael as pastor and friend.

In addition to the personal ministry of his friendship, @MichaelCatt’s books have powerfully helped me toward a daily experience of Christ that is higher up, deeper down, and closer in. His books will be helping people long after he departs to be with the Lord!

Like so many others, I am praying for my friend - @MichaelCatt - and his family in the days ahead. Michael is a kind leader who has influenced innumerable people, including me. I am glad I came to know him decades ago, and I am grateful for his friendship.

We know how much Michael means to so many of you. He has been a son, a father figure, a friend, a mentor, a brother, a shepherd, a prophet, and more. We would love for you to share your favorite stories and fond memories with us, by emailing CattLegacy@gmail.com.

We hope in heaven, where one day there will be no more suffering, pain, tears or death. Where we will one day worship at the feet of Jesus together. We trust in El Roi, the God who sees us. We look to the Good Shepherd to comfort us & make His presence known to us in our grief.

Pray for @ErinBethea & @HayleyCatt, Drew & Paisley as they support Michael, Terri, and each other during these difficult days. And we ask that you pray for relief from any pain and unexplainable peace for Michael as he fights the good fight and finishes his race here on earth.

We ask for your prayers for Terri, that she and Michael will have many precious and holy moments together in the coming weeks. Ask the Lord to give her strength and comfort that only He can provide.

Because of this, we have chosen to forego any future cancer treatments, with the goal now being to make him as comfortable as possible through palliative care for the few months he has left this side of heaven.

However, in recent months, his health has taken a turn for the worse, and he has had several surgeries, hospitalizations and emergency room visits. Recently, doctors found a tumor in his brain stem. They do not recommend operating on the tumor.

As many of you know, Michael has been courageously battling prostate cancer for the past five years. In those five years, he has been blessed to have minimal side effects or pain, despite dozens of radiation and chemo treatments. 🧵
