🙌🏾 glory! I enjoy joyful singing about hope in Christ with a gathered congregation. But, I also enjoy the strength of quiet reflection on the truth of Christ and His gift of eternal life. As the Senator says, thankful for hope - not merely optimism. Grace to you, brother 🙏🏾
Friends- This is a tough note to write, but since a bunch of you have started to suspect something, I’ll cut to the chase: Last week I was diagnosed with metastasized, stage-four pancreatic cancer, and am gonna die. Advanced pancreatic is nasty stuff; it’s a death sentence.

As Christians, in our disagreeing, we must never dismiss or dehumanize another, or we become ungodly. The trashing, demeaning, humiliating, and labeling of others is horrifying and grieves the heart of our God.

Saints, many people are open to gospel conversations. They just start in different places - not with a tract/script, but often their anxiety/confusion about biblical anthropology or theodicy. #ImageOfGod

Saints, a commitment to Christ’s lordship/biblical ethics is its own thing; it can’t be tribalized/politicized. It’s mostly outside of Venn diagrams. It critiques conservatives, progressives, and independents. Your politics ≠ God’s politics. Chasten your syncretism, please.

Well, there’s nothing new under the sun (Ecclesiastes1:9). Christianity in the U.S. has always weakened its Great Commission effectiveness (John17:21) because political zeal has often exceeded evangelistic zeal. Been like that since colonial times 🤷🏽♂️ Lord, help us 🙏🏾
Saints, in obedience to Ephesians4:3, today is a good day to remember that those that follow Christ as Lord & believe the Bible can/do disagree about political methodology & prioritization of issues. We, too, have history, preferences, & self-interests. We, too, often compromise.

I see lots of younger Christians, even pastors, working through grief of losing influences in their discipleship. I felt that about the late James Montgomery Boice, Bishop G.E. Patterson, and (later) R.C. Sproul. (yea, I’m Baptist, but I drink a lot of Presbyterian juice 🤣)

I like people. I like hearing how they think. As an independent, conversation is lower quality these days. It’s a struggle to just have a conversation without folks do apologetics or defense against whoever their “them” is 🤷🏽♂️ I’m just asking what do YOU think about ________ 🤦🏾♂️
