Zane's Law motion has now passed at the London Assembly. Contaminated land is a huge issue and it's vital we have transparency so developers can be held to account. Thank you to @TruthAboutZane for all the tireless advocacy to see a change in the law to protect other people.

Really pleased to see my motion for Zane's Law at the London Assembly pass unanimously. The issue of contamination land is huge - it needs transparency & accountability and @TheGreenParty will continue to keep pushing. Find out more about the campaign at
MOTION AGREED: The London Assembly asked the Mayor to join them in supporting calls to establish Zane’s Law by writing to the Prime Minister to bring forward the primary legislation needed. https://t.co/g9uNn6f0Em

This is huge! ***The Royal College of Paediatrics & Child Health have called for a PAUSE in recruitment of PAs in paediatrics*** A step towards patient safety. Finally. 👏
Today RCPCH has called for a pause in the recruitment of Physicians Associates (PAs) into paediatrics. This follows our survey of College members on their views and experiences of PAs working in paediatrics. Read our statement: https://t.co/wGTnGeWRkJ

I'm delighted to announce that I have been appointed to the Environmental Audit Committee, following in the footsteps of @CarolineLucas who served on the committee for many years💚 It's really important work and I'm excited to get started at our first meeting this afternoon!

My reaction to the Budget, on a historic day. There were some welcome announcements, but also huge missed opportunities for fair taxes on wealth, for action on nature-friendly farming and water pollution, and for real investment in public transport.

"How much more evidence does he need...?" @carla_denyer asks Keir Starmer to call what is happening in Gaza a genocide following Israel's decision to ban UNRWA.

You're going to see a lot of politicians claiming credit for TfL's plan to introduce more public toilets. It's important to remember who put in all the hard work to commit the Mayor to fund this. Huge well done to Green London Assembly Member @CarolineRussell!
Did someone say, toilets? After going on about it for long enough, I’m so glad to see TfL's toilet feasibility study result in actual new toilets across the @TfL network.

We've long been one of the bodies to question the 'energy from waste' argument used to justify the use of the Beddington incinerator in the South London Waste Partnership. Air pollution and stagnant recycling rates made us suspect that we were being had. https://t.co/IsEGerYenv

Nearly half of waste is now burned for energy, but BBC analysis finds it is as dirty as coal.

A thread on what's happened at @afcwimbledon, drawing on a few years experience working on flooding. #AFCW Despite reports, I don't think the flooding was from the River Wandle.... 🧵

Let’s talk #AFCW & how #ClimateChange is ahead of how we do housing developments & other building works There is a lesson here for cllrs when they sign off developments in the boroughs Open space doesn’t equal green space and green space isn’t much use if there isn’t much of it

'...we highlighted our years of experience on the site, recalling the countless times that the stadium and car park were flooded. ... developers, the council, City Hall and the Environment Agency were all warned about the dangers of future flooding.' https://t.co/klTvcPRkmm

The flooding of Wimbledon's Plough Lane was "totally predictable", a campaign group has said.

❌ 100 days and only *a letter* to show for it. @UKLabour certainly *didn't* hit the ground running on the building safety crisis. It's not a Government priority and it shows. Ask anyone who is trapped in a dangerous building or has a flat they can't remortgage or sell.

Food security is going to be a problem for UK. Think other countries will share when they are starving? Wrong. Harvest in England the second worst on record because of wet weather. https://t.co/RDO5RLS5MJ

Depressing news that Govt may approve bee-killing pesticide despite election promise to ban it - & outrageous that British Sugar has applied to use neonics for 5th year, despite industry commitment to end reliance in 2023. Govt must act to protect bees 🐝

In giving the Israeli Government impunity to break international law, the UK, US and others have enabled a genocide, failed to secure the release of the hostages, escalated the fighting and put the entire region at risk. The diplomacy of phone calls and statements is not enough.

DSEI arms fair is a stain on our city. I've written to the Mayor for an update on his correspondence with DSEI and asked him to stand with us in denouncing the arms fair and all atrocities where the British Government is supplying arms around the world.
