Excited to share my first postdoc manuscript! @danjbecker and I created frameworks for understanding how cross-species transmission is driven by phylogenetic relatedness between co-roosting species, and its impact on roost infection prevalence.

Spatial modelling with Rita Ribeiro and @JMatthiopoulos found that most vampire bat roosts in the rabies endemic Peruvian Andes remain undiscovered. This may explain the limited ability of bat population control to reduce spillover https://t.co/863qC2t5KO @CVRinfo @UofG_SBOHVM

In our quest for new vampire 🦇roosts, we travelled 300km to another department called Ica; with some intensive asking-around at different government institutions, 4 days later, we finally found a new vampire bat roost, next to the sea with many pinnipeds around🤩🌊🦭THANK U team
