In August, we reported the VA lost more than 600 doctors and nearly 2,000 nurses this year, with the number of doctors still in the agency dropping each month since Trump took office. If you recently left the VA, here's how to share your story with us:

Based on this sample, we find that open-weight models enable a diverse range of seven use cases (ie ways one can observe, interact with, or change a model), ranging from fine-tuning a model’s knowledge, to examining its internals, to compressing its parameters or precision

NEW: The Education Dept. layoffs continued overnight, w/ the main office in charge of special ed funding being “decimated,” as one person described. “They cut just about everyone that works with IDEA funding,” said another. “I’m not sure how these programs exist moving forward.”

They have fired the staff of the CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report and 70 Epidemic Intelligence Service officers, who are disease detectives that respond to outbreaks. I cannot emphasize enough how dangerous it is to dismantle our disease surveillance infrastructure.

Friday night massacre. The CDC just lost dozens of its top scientists and its entire D.C. office. This isn’t streamlining the government - it’s dismantling our ability to detect and respond to outbreaks before they spread. You can’t cut your way to safety.

On Wednesday, Brian Kilmeade went on national television and called for homeless people to be killed by lethal injection. "Just kill 'em," he said. There hasn't been one word about it in The New York Times or The Washington Post or USA Today.

Iceland is the world’s biggest consumer of SSRIs. They’ve had fewer than 10 gun homicides since 2020; in the US, there have been over 95,000 in that time. It’s the guns.

The #1 cause of death in children isn’t mold, parasites, leaky gut, gluten, or food dyes. It’s firearms. So why are we patting ourselves on the back because food companies are voluntarily pulling dyes, while the leading killer of kids goes unaddressed? Every day, parents hold

Medicine and public health have added three decades to the human lifespan. Vaccination alone produced 40% of the reduction in child deaths. And now a disturbed and unqualified man driven by crackpot theories is destroying the foundations of this work, including CDC.

Why publish one story about A.I. gone wrong when you can publish two? Here's my other story today with @NYTimesCramer on how the NYPD used facial recognition tech to arrest the wrong man. The perp was 5'6''. Cops charged Trevis Williams, who is 6'2''. https://t.co/FhA7ewLN5J
