Feeling a bit nostalgic today, thinking about my incredible lab colleagues at the @DanforthCenter. That place wasn’t just a hub of scientific discovery for me, it was where I made lifelong connections and experienced some of the most important growth in my career.

We found that (1) evolutionary loss of residues critical for C-to-U RNA editing are likely lead to reduced or absent of RNA editing activity in Nicotiana benthamiana NbIPI1, and (2) NbIPI1 has role in chloroplast transcript stability and may also contribute to C-to-U editing.

I am excited to share our (@PD_lab_DDPSC @Danforthcenter) recent publication in Plant Molecular Biology in which we examined the function of chloroplast pentatricopeptide (PPR) protein IPI1 in chloroplast RNA processing.

Thanks very much @houstonbotanic for acknowledging me and my group's work.
This #BlackHistoryMonth we want to highlight important research on plasmodesmata -- which could help agriculturalists produce more food with a smaller environmental footprint, as well as reduce risk of losing crops to disease -- Tessa Burch-Smith PhD, is doing at @DanforthCenter.
