Ja, want die 'avonturen van de jongens van Bontekoe' behelsden dus ook roofovervallen op dorpen op Zuid-Chinese kust, totslaafmakingen en slavenhandel naar Bantam.
#Hoorn besluit geen excuses aan te bieden voor het slavernijverleden. Dat is betreurenswaardig. Gelukkig wil bijna de hele raad dat de stad met dit verleden aan de slag gaat. Zullen we dan beginnen met het aanpassen van de stadspromotie, @Gemeente_Hoorn?.

Today the ESTA database (v1) was launched with data on Indian Ocean and Indonesian archipelago slave trade (>4000 voyages) - - a collaboration of many scholars and institutes, see - and special tnx @_mervetosun and @pascalkonings.

Volgende week lanceren we de eerste versie van de @ESTA_IISG database mét een interactieve kaart waarop je de data over slavenhandel in Azië zelf kan bestuderen en bevragen. Met dank aan @_mervetosun @pascalkonings alle onderzoeksassistenten en iedereen die data heeft bijgedragen.
Volgende week! De ESTA database geeft toegang tot informatie over ruim 4.000 slavenhandelsreizen waarop zo'n 600.000 slaafgemaakte mensen zijn vervoerd rond de Indische Oceaan, een mijlpaal in het onderzoek naar slavernij in Azië. Wil je er bij zijn? ➡️
