Anyone have any good reccys for where to bring kids for dinner in central London? Lots of places don’t allow kids in after 7pm. They are decent eaters, 4,6 and 14! Thanks

The min wage increase feels really counter productive. It will push prices up, drive inflation and effectively wipe out the increase in a relatively short period of time. Likely a knock on effect for higher salaries too, driving more people into 40% tax so nobody feels better off

This actually seems like a decent idea
🚨 NEW: Rachel Reeves is considering a 2p rise in Income Tax but a 2p cut in National Insurance in the Budget Around 30 million workers who pay both taxes would pay the same amount, but pensioners and landlords - who don’t pay NI - would be hit [@Telegraph]

One of the biggest lies ever told
🚨 | Margaret Thatcher - ‘The state has no source of money other than the money that people earn themselves. There is no such thing as public money there is only taxpayers money’ 💥 Rachel Reeves didn't get this memo in her studies. Robbing the public blind through taxation.

Sure, reduce voting age to 16 but you shouldn’t be allowed to vote once you get your pension either.

Very cool to play Portrush a month before The Open. Felt nervous with an empty grandstand

800,000 self-employed people and landlords with turnover >£50k will have to submit tax accounts to HMRC five times a year under changes starting next April. Many don't know, others are unhappy. Minister in charge of Making Tax Digital James Murray live @Moneybox noon @BBCRadio4

Increasingly important to sort your tax return as early as possible
Self-employed people and small businesses who do self-assessment face hefty new penalties if they pay their VAT or income tax late. Fined 3% of overdue tax if 15 days late, another 3% at 30 days, and then 10% a year after that. The changes will bring in £105m in 2028/29

Are we a 'high welfare' country where we pay people too much not to work, meaning the government could save billions by slashing welfare, no harm done? Erm - not exactly. This chart compares us with other countries. Of 34 advanced economies, we're 3rd from the bottom.
