Using new genetic, molecular and diagnostic tools we are exploring what makes the malaria parasite infectious to mosquitoes.

New preprint is out! 📣 @MaizelsLab We have done Spatial Transcriptomics on H. polygyrus infected guts 🪱🔬🧬 and found new insights into how the host defends itself against this very cool parasite! https://t.co/omR99H9FDK

We are #recruiting a PhD student! If you always wanted to use state-of-the-art molecular/cellular #biology and genetic engineering to find find out how #Plasmodium male gametes are made, or just want to take pretty pictures like the ones below, get in touch with me! Please share!

Excited to share the 1st preprint of my fellowship! I found a short sequence in the FIT 3’UTR which is required for post-transcriptional regulation in response to iron availability. Big thanks to all involved, esp. @ClareHardingLab for her brilliant support. All feedback welcome!
New work from our lab! Awesome Wellcome ECA fellow @SloanMegan found iron-mediated post-transcriptional regulation in Toxoplasma, potentially mediated by the moonlighting-metabolic enzyme aconitase. Any comments would be very welcome!

After a long journey, it is finally there: Male #malaria parasites (#Plasmodium) need a highly divergent Arp2/3 complex to take their genome along when they want to infect a #mosquito. Have a look at the preprint here: https://t.co/uWe87hVfi8
