Brethren, it is with a heavy heart that I announce that I have resigned from my Lodge and Freemasonry in general. I have left in good standing should I decide to return in the future. I'll be staying on Twitter but will be changing name #Freemasons #Resignation

I'm always researching my family tree and recently moved my tree to @AncestryUK - just found out my Great-Great-Grandfather was initiated into Royal Sussex Lodge 342 in 1920. Checked on @FindMyLodge and it appears they still meet, Province of @HantsMason

Passing through @FreemasonsHall reception on my way to a meeting yesterday I was asked if I could look after a Brother from South Carolina — his first ever English meeting and Festive Board. He presented this lovely token and pin to say “thanks”, and now I need to visit the US!

Honestly, don't look up the first degree ritual online before going through the ceremony. I knew little, only what everyone knows through popular culture, and had the time of my life: only wish I'd known even less. Mystery and surprise are what make it so powerful.
