In an age of populism and polarisation, writes @DavidLammy in @The_Tablet, St John Henry Newman is a reminder that if politicians are to meet the greatest challenges of our time, they must be guided by conscience.

A moving ceremony today by His Holiness Pope Leo @Pontifex at the Vatican, recognising English Saint John Henry Newman as a Doctor of the Church. As the world feels increasingly divided, he reminds us that renewal comes from engaging with our differences, not rejecting them.

I joined His Holiness Pope Leo @Pontifex to celebrate Saint John Henry Newman being made the 38th Doctor of the Church.    Coming from the Anglo-Catholic tradition, his insistence on moral reflection calls us back to what matters – leadership in the cause of what is right & just.
