“Simply put, the public utilities that vote to increase our energy bills can do so without any accountability due to zero transparency in how they vote.” -⁦@RKarabinchak⁩ ⁦It’s now up to ⁦@GovMurphy if we get more transparency here in Jersey!

PJM Interconnection's policies are shaped by votes by public utilities that profit when energy prices go up and energy is connected inefficiently.

The proposed increase to New Jersey's Social Equity Excise Fee (SEEF) would have strengthened New Jersey’s commitment to equity and justice. "This is not just a matter of money — it is about making things right," said NJPP's @MarleinaU. Read more:

Such a perfect example of NJ's ennui around mass transit. NJ Transit & surrounding systems have been underfunded & broken for so long, people just shrug & assume it can't be improved. But increasing funding & prioritizing transpo options besides cars makes a real difference!

This quote helps encapsulate how "waste, fraud and abuse" is just code for "disfavored groups." 1) "Intended beneficiaries" gives the game away. Medicare, Medicaid and SocSec are broad entitlements, not red-tape-restricted programs. Eligibility is broad on purpose!

If you think some of the governor's proposed revenue raisers are bad, fine. I certainly have my quibbles with sin taxes. But if you don't like them, what's your replacement? Every dollar you don't raise is a dollar that has to be cut from a worthy program. #MathIsReal

A ban on sugary foods in SNAP gets the causality arrow backwards, punishing low-income people with paternalistic restrictions. INCREASING SNAP benefits REDUCES how many calories come from added sugar. That is, when people are more food secure, they can afford healthier foods

The Trump Admin just announced they're re-opening a private prison in New Jersey. And it turns out that private prison is operated by a major Trump donor 🧵

Delaney Hall rumors circulated since last year when GEO Group joined a legal challenge against @NJGov's ban on ICE jails. GEO Group, like CoreCivic in Elizabeth, is yet another example of billionaires benefitting from this admin's blood thirst and greed. https://t.co/z2EawYoaj1

new for @njdotcom, I spoke with @alexfromNJ of @NJPolicy about @GovMurphy’s new budget proposal and what it means for #NewJersey’s climate. In short? Plenty of good news and clean energy investments but (once again) diverting funds to @NJTRANSIT

This is also a good sign--electric vehicle initiatives are under attack by bad-faith industry actors and the federal government. It's clear that New Jersey is not bowing down!

The clean energy transition is moving forward! Diesel trucks are some of the worst contributors to air pollution in overburdened communities--seeing @GovMurphy put $$$ behind transitioning our fleets to zero-emission trucks is exactly what we need.
