superconducting tech is so good that we can make magnetic field sensors that have resolution of the flux quantum - the best resolution that quantum mechanics allows us to have. we put this sensor (called a SQUID) on a tiny tip that and move it around with piezoelectric crystals.

Working with AIs to write code still feels like magic. I have been programming since the 1970s, and I’ve seen all sorts of huge changes in the field, but this has been the biggest transformation in the way that I work since I first touched a computer. I literally just talk with

@zerohedge True. That is why Bitcoin is based on energy: you can issue fake fiat currency, and every government in history has done so, but it is impossible to fake energy.

We heard you like Apple TV, so we put Apple TV in your Apple TV so you can watch Apple TV while you’re watching Apple TV.
Geniuses at Apple with naming: Hardware device name = "Apple TV" Paid streaming service name = "Apple TV" App name* = "Apple TV" *typically fine, but note the app can include content not on the paid streaming service

Our paper on Outfox for @nym, the post-quantum successor to the Sphinx packet format, was presented at the Workshop on Privacy in the Electronic Society at CCS today in Taiwan - with full security proofs thanks to @alfredorial and @aniampiotrowska! https://t.co/RMRCNGJjlO

I’m a SCU grad. As a Jesuit school they preach the three C’s: Cash, Credit, or Check?
Santa Clara is one of the first law schools to publish 2026-27 tuition. Historically, Grad PLUS loans have had no limits. Starting next year, professional school borrowing will be capped at $50k/year. Notice anything about the trend in tuition? I expect many schools to copy this.

@DrPhiltill People who use AI badly are not an argument against AI. It's amazing how helpful it is.

Unfortunately the first buyer fell through. Please reach out if interested and/or I'm going to try to hit up others that expressed interest
Hey all! Its unfortunately time to find a new home for my SEM. if you are interested take a look at this doc. TLDR: asking $2,250 OBO, pick up in Santa Clara CA. Other than that its best offer / whoever makes it easiest for me to move it on

people don't realize that applied AI in manufacturing is actually just real cybernetics and will produce enormous companies that have genuine network effect scaling potential. tag yourself if you're working on part of this. i'll start (the whole thing is me)

.@AnthropicAI has destroyed all their good will in the last few months. I'll be cancelling my $200/mo Claude Max subscription, and rewriting all my tooling for other providers. Anyone have good experiences with other providers?

As a purely practical matter, completely ignoring the human rights case, completely ignoring the abuses that governments will put such powers to: without ordinary Europeans having access to secure communications, foreign enemies of European countries will have a vastly easier
We are alarmed by reports that Germany is on the verge of a catastrophic about-face, reversing its longstanding and principled opposition to the EU’s Chat Control proposal which, if passed, could spell the end of the right to privacy in Europe. https://t.co/015qmQnIS2

These are the tutorials I used when I switched from GROMACS to LAMMPS for molecular machine design.
The content of https://t.co/ZtFlpjgiml has just been published in my favorite journal, the Living Journal of Computational Molecular Science (LiveCoMS): https://t.co/yHwrQSrrww

Respected quantum computing researcher goes on record that key result of new theory paper is AI generated. Not meant as a slight to Scott—rather this is an important example that AI is not mere remixing of training data. It can be truly novel. https://t.co/tPKn7iEz08

Update (Sep. 29): Since this post has now gone semi-viral on X, Hacker News, etc., with people arguing about how trivial or nontrivial was GPT5’s “discovery,” it seems worthwhile …

@meanderingexile I was an impressionable young lad when I first read Marshall T. Savage. From a technical/engineering perspective, The Millennial Project is a dumpster fire. But its grand and poetic vision of the future and humanity's place in it still guides everything I do. A masterpiece.
