@MayorKeller
announces they're creating a third dept. of first responders at City of Albuquerque to respond to non-violent crimes instead of having armed officers arrive. These professionals will respond to calls on homelessness, addiction, mental health, & other issues
Another baby 💔 : Nevaeh Bravo— her cousin writing “Unfortunately my beautiful Nevaeh was one of the many victims from today’s tragedy… Rest in peace my sweet girl, you didn’t deserve this.”

: 4th grade teacher Eva Mireles, and 10-year-old Xavier Lopez— his mother had been with him at his award's ceremony just a few hours before. 💔
Today marks two weeks since I left my job at KOAT, and I gotta say it’s been a breath of fresh air. Many people have asked me where I’m off to next, and while I’ve had opportunities arise, for now I’ve decided to take some time off with my family in Denver.
HAPPENING NOW: The Navajo Nation gets its first batch of the Pfizer vaccines-- about 3,900 doses which will likely start being administered to healthcare workers tonight and tomorrow morning.

I hope my media friends compare and contrast how black and brown protestors are covered vs. white protestors. THAT is white privilege— that so many of you fail to see.

I was a low-income student who went to an elite school, and did what society told me to do to live a “good life,” and several years later I’m over $100K in debt and my family still lives in poverty. 🤷🏽♀️
New - Biden completely rejects Schumer/Warren proposal to cancel $50K of student loan debt per borrower:
“I will not make that happen."
Says he doesn't want to forgive debts of borrowers from elite schools -- and money would be better spent on early childhood education.

Familia: please pray for my mom to God, your ancestors, spirit guides, angels or whatever higher power you believe in. She’s been fighting COVID for over a week, & is currently on a ventilator. I believe my mom will pull through. All prayers, & well wishes are welcome. Thanks.🙏🏽
Still so disappointed w/ the lack of POC representation in Denver’s political coverage last night—from reporters to political experts. Denver has a 30% Latino population,& still that continues not to be reflected in mainstream coverage. It’s not enough to have one Latina reporter
Familia, it’s true. After over 2.5 years, my time here at KOAT is coming to an end. 😔 I have just about a week left in the Land of Enchantment. It’s so bittersweet, and to be honest, I’m feeling all of the emotions. 🥴🥺
💔 Cousins of 10-year-old Lexi Rubio confirm she was another one of the victims killed— a cousin tweeting “She was such a bright light in everyone’s life and was a badass ball player. You left this world way too soon ,and you will forever be missed.”

As some of you may know, my time at CBS Colorado has come to an end. It’s been a dream over the last few years to be home in Denver reporting on the people and communities that I hold so dear to my heart🥹 The place where it all began! La lucha sigue, familia! 💪🏽✨
Day 4–
@pslweb
in Denver supporting the King Soopers workers on strike— the group is just one of many local orgs standing in solidarity with the workers. Tune in tonight at 10 on

we’ll also hear from Kroger reps.
After nearly 2 weeks on a ventilator, yesterday mom was extubated/taken off the vent, and she’s on the road to recovery. Thanks to God. 🙏🏽 Mom has a long way to go, but we’re so grateful for the progress she’s making. 🙏🏽❤️ Please continue praying for her & sending her good vibes.
🧡🖤🤍 Today I was invited to my old stomping grounds— West High— to speak on a panel about my career & challenges I’ve faced to get here. There’s still so much more I’d like to do in this life, but ultimately,it’s all about my community. La lucha sigue. Representation matters.✊🏽
Of all the TV markets I’ve worked in, New Mexico is the state I’ve received the most criticism in. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again— I will NOT stop properly pronouncing Spanish words to appease others.🤷🏽♀️ I’m not here to fit your mold, or your cookie cutter standards. ✊🏽

union will stage building "walk-ins" at West High in a show of solidarity w/ teachers of color in district. This comes a week after numerous parents & students voiced concerns at a board meeting over the lack of BIPOC teachers in the district.

Hope everyone is safe & wearing those masks. 😷 All week I’ve been running w/ a mask on, & while it’s hard, it’s about protecting myself & my neighbors. 🤝Remember if UR in NM, as of 7/13, UR required to wear a mask at all times when in public places, includ. while exercising.🏃🏽♀️
I work an in industry that’s constantly trying to tell me I’m not enough—I’m too Latina, too indigenous, not skinny enough, I dont talk the right way, I dont wear the right lipstick. It’s exhausting. But I hope all my brown & black girls out there never forget— YOU ARE ENOUGH.
EXTREMELY heartbreaking and come with deep sorrow to say that my Tia Irma’s husband Joe Garcia has passed away due to grief, i truly am at a loss for words for how we are all feeling, PLEASE PRAY FOR OUR FAMILY, God have mercy on us, this isn’t easy
A lot of ppl saying they “crossed illegally” & “broke the law”—Seems there’s a lot of misinformation out there. 1. Seeking asylum in U.S is a right 2. Most these migrants are here LEGALLY, they have A-numbers, meaning they’ve registered w/
@ICEgov
& are cleared to entry country

Thank you for waking up with us on CBS Colorado Mornings🌤️ This dress belonged to my Grammy 🥹 While she’s no longer here with us, I’m always working to keep her memory alive. 💜 I wish she could have been here to see me do the news in Denver. She would have been so thrilled. 🙏🏽
What a great way to spend my Labor Day. 🎥 ✨ Got to fill-in on the CBS Denver anchor desk for the first time this afternoon in my hometown— the place I was born and raised, the city that helped shape me. A true honor!
“I will forever say your name so you are always remembered, Eva Mireles, 4th grade teacher at Robb Elementary who selflessly jumped in front of her students to save their lives.”
After a much needed break, ya girl is jumping back into the job market. 💃🏽 If you know of a good station looking for a passionate, strong storyteller who has expertise in immigration/border reporting, and covering communities of color, let me know.
my mom is my biggest fan❤️She tunes in every weekend morning to see me anchor, & every weekday night to see my stories.She’ll post on FB to get her friends to watch,too🥹Sometimes she doesn’t go to sleep just to see me & during shows she’ll text me to fix my hair or slow down lol
Momzy is still fighting, familia! ❤️Right now she’s stable, but remains critical. Please keep praying for her and sending her good vibes into the universe. She’s so strong, and I know she can pull through this. 💪🏽🙏🏽💕 🧿
Hey familia, please keep my mom in your prayers. 🙏🏽 She’s stable, but she’s been in the hospital since Friday bcuz of issues w/ her gallbladder. She’s having surgery today & possibly Monday. We’re praying for a speedy recovery. Please send her positive vibes, love, and light❤️✨

Shame on all the people who ran out to the grocery stores to hoard all the food and other items. So inconsiderate. Think about the elderly, your neighbor.

I’m sorry that my “thick accent” makes you uncomfortable. TBH it’s upsetting for me when people DON’T properly pronounce Spanish words. I will not stop pronouncing these words the proper way. This is a part of who I am & I will not stop to try to fit in to your world or anyone’s.
After months of vaccine hesitancy, being hospitalized for nearly two months with some time on the vent, my mom FINALLY got her first dose of the vaccine today. Such a relief.

It’s Halloween eve, and you know we had to come decked out for the holiday! 🎃 Hope you were able to tune into CBS4 This Morning. I’ll be back on the anchor desk next Saturday and Sunday. Make sure you tune in! ✨
After more than a month in the hospital, mom is finally home. ❤️🙏🏽 This is a blessing from God!! While mom has greatly improved, she still has a long way to go w/ physical therapy & repairing her lungs, but we’re happy she can at least continue recovery at home. Gracias a dios.✨

PSA: Yes, I’ve been in hiding for a few months, but I’m still alive. ✨ Finally got myself out of the house to go see my prego BFF. It’s been a rough couple of months for my family, but thank God we’re all pulling through. 🙏🏽 Happy Sunday, familia!
It’s so disheartening seeing so many families gathering this Christmas, without masks, acting like we’re not in a pandemic. 😔 Not looking forward to the COVID numbers in the coming weeks. But Merry Christmas!
