Emma Raducanu is not only a world-class tennis player at the age of just 18, she's also modest and well-spoken. She's a real asset to this country. And if she can stay injury-free, this is just the start! #USOpen

Prime Video presenter (who I don't recognise) to Tim Henman: "Tim, how does this compare to winning a title yourself?" Whisper this quietly to her, but Tim has never won a Grand Slam title! #USOpen

Massive congratulations to Emma Raducanu! What a wonderful Great British success story this is. These are great scenes at Flushing Meadows. To think that this is just the start of the story for her! If she can stay free from injury, the years ahead should be tremendous! #USOpen

The sheer number of survivors, first responders and local residents/workers who have either died or suffered significant health problems from the toxic dust they inhaled on 9/11 and in the period that followed is enormous. They are 9/11 victims too. #911Anniversary

On the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, we remember the 2,974 people lost their lives that day. However, let us also remember that the death toll continues to rise. 4,343 survivors and first responders have died in the years since. Let us remember them all. #911Anniversary

What a terrific fight that was! Congratulations to Sam Eggington - that was wonderful to watch. I hope we'll be seeing a lot more of Bilel Jkitou in the months and years ahead. He deserves another crack at the big time! #boxing

This is absolutely extraordinary stuff from Emma Raducanu. This tournament is her US Open debut, but she's playing with the confidence and demeanour of a much more experienced, world class player. It's certainly worth staying up late for! #USOpen

In terms of the scope of coverage of the US Open, it's now way ahead of the days when the BBC provided limited coverage. Amazon Prime is a decent platform for entertainment, and increasingly, live sport. But people who aren't tech-savvy often struggle to find it. #USOpen

We have a major British success story to enjoy with Emma Raducanu, and yet it feels as though it's somewhat 'hidden' from view because the UK TV rights are with Amazon Prime. A lot of people who use Prime for shopping etc probably don't know they can watch it. #USOpen

Good luck to Emma Raducanu in her semi-final later tonight. Her rise over the course of the last few months has been extraordinary. I won't call it a 'meteoric' rise, because, as the late Keith Waterhouse pointed out in 'Waterhouse on Newspaper Style', meteors FALL. #USOpen

Anthony Blair has a nerve. His lies and deceit have led to the deaths of British and allied service personnel, not to mention countless innocent Afghans and Iraqis. We do well not to treat him as some sort of elder statesman and we shouldn't give him the dignitaries of the role.
Former Prime Minister Tony Blair delivers a speech to mark the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks and discuss the withdrawal of British forces from Afghanistan. Watch live on Facebook βΊ https://t.co/xPPEsOzqRF

The more I read this NHS blog, the more it enrages me. How can any white NHS employee read it without feeling in a Kafka-esque bind? It offers 5 principles. The first is "Don't be defensive." The last is "Be uncomfortable." On average each Briton pays Β£5k annually to the NHS.

There are numerous jobs where you're required to have various inoculations as a condition of you taking the job - serving in the armed forces, working in hospitals and care homes, and lots more. Now, the same applies to the Covid jab. It is NOT an attack on civil liberties.

Nobody should be 'forced' to have the Covid jab, but it offers a substantial degree of protection to the individual and those they come into contact with. Therefore, if you have the jab, you can expect to have a great deal more freedom to work and socialise as you choose. Fair.

Norman Tebbit talks a lot of sense in his latest Telegraph column. A reality check: 1. Covid cases & hospitalisations are heading in the WRONG direction. 2. Nobody is forcing you to have the vaccine, but you can expect a great deal more freedom to work and socialise if you do.
