These people need to lose their jobs as fast as possible. I mean that completely unironically; they are actively fucking with the medium and see no issues with it at all.
A character who is a loveable doofus should be just that in all languages. But what makes a character endearing in JP can make them seem stalkery in EN if the text is translated literally. The writer would be very upset if the EN audience came across with a different perception.
