Congratulations Dame Sarah- God’s speed in your new role as Archbishop. This is historic- I hope you will look at other firsts in opening the church , in all its aspects, to all who belong to the Church of England, including gay marriage conducted in churches in England.

Before introducing something as radical as a compulsory ID card scheme, which was not in the Labour manifesto , we need a full commission enquiry, public debate, and a general election so the parties can test it out on the very same people who will be required to have the card!
