One of the best things about this conference for me was to network and get to catch up with so many colleagues and friends: from coral reef scientists to colleagues I had met during my year as a Knauss fellow at NOAA 💙🌊

I was a speaker in an event about the *Coral Reef Breakthrough*, an initiative that aims to secure the future of at least 125000 km2 of shallow water tropical reefs.

Very excited to be helping lead this workshop on capacity building for coral restoration in the Global South. We are 30 people from 24 countries, different career stages and sectors. We are identifying the barriers and creating a road map for the solutions.

Here’s a wave of GOOD NEWS for corals. Coral reefs cover a larger area worldwide than we previously thought, the largest known deep-sea coral reef has been discovered, hard corals originated in deep waters and found their way to the surface, corals recycle waste from sponges...
