This study highlights the value of systematic investigations of publicly available (and high quality) bacterial genome sequences. The ability to direct future phenotypic investigations lies on developing tools and approaches to identify evolutionary cues hiding within genomes.

Excited to share our new lab work - driven by our fantastic PhD student (now Dr) @magnus_gj with @HayesScience @syctong: Cataloging of chromosomal inversions in #StrepA reference genomes. Sets an analytical framework for investigations in other pathogens.

Abstract. Chromosomal inversions are a phenomenon in many bacterial species, often across the axis of replication. Inversions have been shown to alter gene

With an ageing population, we should be wary of the clinical burden of pathogens such as SDSE. Timely review led by the talented @ouli_xie. More clinical information on SDSE disease is needed (watch this space....)
Is Streptococcus dysgalactiae subp. equisimilis (SDSE) just the poor cousin of S. pyogenes? Although it mostly causes disease in adults, there's actually much clinical and genomic overlap! See our review just out in CMR @syctong @MDaviesLab @TheDohertyInst
