Covid (@UCSF) Chronicles,Day 521 I can't resist one more thread on boosters. I see lots of debate on data: about antibody levels, infections vs severe infctns, etc. I don't see much about the big issue: the tension between 2 perspectives – that of individuals vs. society.(1/25🧵)

Kids are getting COVID. We know that now. That’s why we are masking up in Rochester Public Schools. I deeply wanted to avoid recommending that RPS require masks, but if there is any community in the country (actually, the world) where we should follow the science, Rochester is it

Covid (@UCSF) Chronicles, Day 453 1/ I know everybody’s sick of playing 3-dimensional Covid chess. Sorry, but the Delta variant forces us back to the chess board. Ergo, this 🧵. If you’re fully vaxxed, I wouldn’t be too worried, especially if you’re in a highly vaxxed region.

What the CDC mask guidance does & does NOT mean: It means that if vaccinated: 1) It’s safe to not wear a mask outdoors and in “most” indoor settings 2) You’re 75-80% less likely to contract #COVID19 3) IF infected, you’re risk of being hospitalized or dying is minimal 1/2
