One day, the people of Belarus will shape their own country. The EU will continue to stand with them. Honoured to host a discussion w/ @Tsihanouskaya on the dire human rights situation in Belarus and ongoing politically motivated repression & crackdown on dissenting voices.

Superb news. The EU continues to step up. An initial €1.9 billion for humanitarian action will transform millions of lives, including through our plan to save 87 million lives in 2026. Momentum and energy. Thank you @hadjalahbib for your brilliant leadership.
The EU is the world’s leading humanitarian donor. We will keep it that way, committing €1.9 bil. of initial 🇪🇺 funding to humanitarian aid in 2026. But public funding alone will not meet the scale of the crisis. That's also why I'm in Davos: we need the private sector on board.

By combining Principles, Protection and Prosperity we can make Europe more sovereign, more resilient and stronger. For this: We must remain a firm champion of the international rules-based order, international law and multilateralism.

The decision by the U.S. to impose travel restrictions on European citizens and officials is unacceptable and an attempt to challenge our sovereignty. Europe will keep defending its values — freedom of expression, fair digital rules, and the right to regulate our own space.
We strongly condemn the U.S. decision to impose travel restrictions on five European individuals, including former Commissioner Thierry Breton. Link to full statement: https://t.co/d8zwBd2sL8

Myanmar continues its downward spiral of brutal violence and oppression by the military regime. At @UN_HRC, the EU works to keep the spotlight on the people of Myanmar — including the Rohingya — and their struggle for democracy, human rights, accountability and a peaceful future.

I am honoured to have been elected as the incoming United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. As a former refugee, I know first-hand how protection and opportunity can change the course of a life. That experience will inform a leadership approach grounded in empathy,

The horror continues in Sudan. The bloodbath in Darfur is even visible from space. The world cannot look away. The people of Sudan need peace. We urge the warring parties to cease the hostilities, allow humanitarian access, and return to the negotiating table.
