Got a kid interested in aviation? Not sure how to help foster it? In the US, the Experimental Aviation Association (EAA) will give kids from 8-17 their first flight in a small plane! I’ve flown a few; a great opportunity for kids & pilots, too! https://t.co/P3q3JGIRE1

An unsettling history, but stay w/ me: Went on a date w/ a girl in high school. She liked me, but I wasn’t as interested. A little chubby redhead. Couple years later, she & her roommate were tortured & murdered in their ABQ apartment. Along the same timeline, I didn’t like a

The other Jon who seems to have the inside scoop weighs in on Spirit… I’m hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst. A lot of pilots have been jumping ship & getting hired by the other carriers…painful to start over, though.
So, FWIW, and obviously the story by TheAirCurrent was the breaking one here, but, sources checking in say things like "We are starting to expect NK shutdown"

I keep missing out on all the good frauds, and like a sucker, getting left standing around while everyone else spends that sweet fraud money. $20B in CA, my own backyard, and I wasn’t smart enough to grab some. Dumb.
EXCLUSIVE: Luxury cars, private villas and overseas wire transfers: CBS News obtained dozens of files and photos that reveal how Minnesota fraudsters blew through hundreds of millions in taxpayer dollars as part of one of the biggest COVID-era fraud schemes.

Water doesn’t help. As I understand it, China is starting to ban these power banks. Most jets now have multiple “Fire Bags” to put overheating devices in; they will contain the fire. If it’s in the cargo bay, we use the existing fire suppression system (a gas is released from
Power bank fire alert: Lithium batteries flip from normal to firebomb in seconds.... heat builds, gases explode, no stopping it. Mid-flights? Cabin conditions make it spread faster, and cases are rising with gadget overload. This pic's proof: Power Bank puffing smoke . Avoid

The Swedish Air Force “julgransflygningar” or Christmas tree flyover was canceled due to weather, but the formation consisting of Swedish Jas 39 Gripen and Finnish F/A-18 still got some practice in on top. 😎

Welp… When the tankers show up, it’s serious. I hope we don’t do this, but if we do, I hope our people stay safe & sound.
Combat Rescue Aircraft, Tankers Arrive In Caribbean As U.S. Military Buildup Accelerates HH-60W rescue helicopters and HC-130J rescue planes, along with additional USAF tankers, have joined the growing U.S. military presence in the Caribbean. Story:

“White and White, you’ve got too much height; Red and White, looking just right; Red an Red, pilot is dead”
PAPI lights—those red-and-white runway beacons—are one of the quiet heroes of every safe landing. As part of an airport’s ground lighting system, they give pilots a crystal-clear visual guide on whether they’re too high, too low, or right on the money during approach. Think of

When it’s clear & this happens, it produces one of my favorite visual effects. The cities look like they are underwater. The difference in temp w/ warmer air over a layer of cold (an “inversion” of normal) makes the light shimmer as if looking down into a pool. So cool!
Central California is currently experiencing one of the most remarkable temperature inversions I've ever seen in this part of the world. The Central Valley remains miserably damp & chilly under dense fog layer, but it's balmily warm & sunny just 2,000ft up nearby mountain slopes!

An interesting project. Yes, one aircraft can “surf” the wake of another to some extent. The idea is that two jets “rendezvous” sort of like a receiver joining a tanker. The second jet then flies in close proximity to the first, boosting efficiency…Airbus says 5% fuel savings.

It’s a jet leaving a contrail. I think part of this is that a lot of people just don’t take time to really look at the sky, in both day & night. When they do, they see something that’s pretty routine but they can’t explain it.

Enjoyed this Netflix movie. I recommend it. There is an aviation connection, but I won’t give it away. Beautiful cinematography, too.

I love Europe & it pains me to say it, but there is truth in this…most of Europe is incapable of defending themselves. Weak, unreliable allies. Poland & Turkey are building, the rest of the EU is sitting on their ass, many insulting the country that keeps the wolves at bay.
I respectfully disagree with this strategic assessment by EU Commissioner Kubilius. He assumes the US is acting against a potentially too-strong and too-unified Europe, when in reality the US is acting in response to an objectively weak, fragmented, and militarily incapable

We complain about US airlines & airports often, but in reality they are probably the best in the world when it comes to delays & cancelations.
Oof... we lost 3.9M hours to delays in 2025 🫠 Let's name the culprits 🫣 #1 in the 🌎— @Ryanair

I think the “Net Margin” of 3.9% must be industry-wide, and it sounds like Middle Eastern airlines are pushing that. US airlines are not running at a margin of 3.9%…more like 2.7% to 3%
