And brilliant Prof Chris Whitty emphasising to doctors, academics and public health that uncertainties must be made clear. Or trust is lost. You cannot reach people if they don't trust you.
Fascinating "Health Misinformation: UNPACKED" seminar here @LSHTM. Lots of food for thought on combatting the influence of misinformation & encouraging people to think critically about content. You'll find LSHTM's counter-misinformation principles here - https://t.co/Acw8y9rsMr

Total cases slightly down from 2023, maybe because more diagnosed at EM stage and don't need a test (let us hope!). The South West still by far the most cases per head of population. @UKHSA_SouthWest @dartmoornpa
1,581 confirmed cases of Lyme disease in the UK last year. We are currently in peak tick season... @DrNeilStone @UKLyme @Lymenews @LadyofLyme @LymeAction @YolandaHadid @MoriartyLab @LymeChallenge

In the UK #Lymearthritis is fairly rare. But if you happen to have arthritis and high CRP with #Lyme then a @RheumatologyUK doc may see you. If you still have symptoms post treatment ask them to read https://t.co/JEMe9qYhBO We need Docs to take an interest @bendymarsh @smhopkins

Rather surprised that this @bmj_latest editorial is not #OpenAccess. Any reason @BMJPatientEd? Patient involvement in developing clinical guidelines

Experiential evidence must be open to scrutiny and criticism The literature on development of clinical guidelines generally accepts that patients and carers should be involved in the process.123...

We hope you will genuinely engage patients & the public in continuing research into UK #Lyme disease. Look forward to hearing from you! Guidelines currently based on European research & we have some differences; they may matter. @LHSTM
Delighted to announce that we have been awarded a Β£5.5m funding boost to continue our emerging and zoonotic infections research! https://t.co/U3HyZ9sJOw

We really need this for #LymeDisease or research will carry on stagnating and not finding answers that are desperately needed.

A core outcome set for Lyme borreliosis
New WHO guidance for clinical trials - much needed, very welcome. Plus, there is recognition that βUse of core outcomes can both enhance the ability to undertake meaningful comparisons as part of evidence synthesis and decrease research waste.β πππ https://t.co/kda2IypEnQ

Important #pharmacist can distinguish between a #Lyme disease EM rash caused by tick bite and an infected insect bite. Infected bite usually hot and itchy but EM rash usually neither. @NPA1921 @REENABARAI @michael_dowdall open access e-module from @RCGP
Insect bite? If needed, your pharmacist can now provide some prescription medicine without seeing a GP. Think pharmacy first. https://t.co/QzbFlCplQq

It would be interesting to use this modelling to see whether this also predicts a rise in Lyme disease. Will the Borrelia rodent hosts survive the winter more?@StirUni Livestock TBDs like Louping Ill Virus too?
Ticking time bomb: new mathematical modelling by Professor Rachel Norman (@AFSRachel) predicts huge increase in #ticks across #Scotland as a result of #climatechange. Find out more: https://t.co/NoKF2w3WDh

If science writers, esp for @BBC_Future want to know science of #Lyme disease before they write, they might like to refer to our website including the Reality Check https://t.co/9SfIWkXXqd
@ScienceNelson. @PIFTick accreditation matters for #health information!

If @LymeScience would look at science more it would find European quality evidence for continuing symptoms post LB. https://t.co/8qk4hUugW0 Don't know why but if we don't acknowledge & research, we won't find out @tickaddict @Tekenziekten @HaraldReiso @TickEurope @ScienceNelson

It's disturbing to see the BBC and @ScienceNelson promoting pseudoscience and dangerous Wakefield-like quacks John Lambert and Brian Fallon. Chronic Lyme is a destructive cult that has many victims. Some celebrities are adherents, including Ren Gill and Avril Lavigne.
