Please RT!! Our lab is recruiting a PhD student for the current application cycle (fall 2023 start). Please get in touch if you're interested in molecular evolution, including mutation rate evolution, DNA repair mechanisms, and cytonuclear interactions. https://t.co/9BtEOv4FdP

After getting the last paper from my work with @LucasArgueso published, and my life and research organized for the move to Denver, I get to enjoy the awesome @FASEBorg #YCB2022 and @GeneticsGSA #Yeast22 meetings and take some time to think deeply about the science…poolside!

My Stanford colleagues, Jessica Riskin and Marc Feldman, are not pulling any punches here. A really powerful critique.

What a lovely paper! Confluence of so many interesting contributors to genome dynamics in one strain!
From the #GENETICS cover: Heasley & Argueso use long-read sequence analysis to construct a haplotype-phased, telomere-to-telomere length assembly of a diploid #yeast genome and characterize the structural variations therein. @LydiaHeasley @LucasArgueso | https://t.co/xsnnSscPmN

Just finished reading this nice paper. Coolest two feats IMO: 1) a circularized allele of Chr1, 2) a chromosomal region first identified from my dear Zygosaccharomyces bailii by @marsit_m (I think) Kudos to the authors @LydiaHeasley and @LucasArgueso

Our latest study exploring the genome architecture of just a single wild yeast strain has given us an exciting peek at the remarkable contributions of SVs to genomic diversity! Looking forward to future expeditions into the complex and dynamic landscapes of wild yeast genomes.
