Happy Birthday Sir Simon Rattle! At 10 years old he joined our youth programme and became Assistant Conductor in 1977. We’re proud to welcome him back on 25 Feb where he’ll be conducting the Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and Merseyside Youth Orchestra Reunion Concert.

During the Changing of the Guard this morning, officers noticed a child at the front getting upset because of the large crowd. To help calm him down, officers invited him over the barrier to have a closer view of the ceremony.
