A tale of 2 rivers. One is a designated SSSI full of soil and the other is an urban trout river with bankside trees full of wet wipes and sanitary waste. 🤮 #riverteme #worcester #riverchelt #cheltenham Things have got to change! This is no way to treat our precious rivers!

I wrote about the Somerset Levels, once England's most precious wetland landscape, our Camargue or Danube Delta, known as the Avalon Marshes, the birthplace of England. This once amazing watery landscape has been engineered, drained and desecrated beyond recognition and at vast

With tens of £ billions spent on addressing sewage pollution, a tiny fraction of that is being spent on tackling toxic road runoff. We're not accurately targeting spend on harm. Money's following politics and we're wilfully blind on the full picture.

“How can Britain possibly be running out of water?” We’re running out of water for the very same reason that we get so many floods: we’ve engineered and drained our landscapes to expel water as quickly as possible; natural sponges are now fire hoses. https://t.co/5W2woUDyag

For the first time in 400 years it appears that we have a beaver on the River Monnow. Signs have been there through the summer. @gow_derek @WUFoundation

Swifts are incredible in the air. We have a couple of sites where we are able to catch and ring them year after year, this one is at least 7 years old (probably 9). They lack nesting sites so as a country we need to put up more nest boxes for them. Watch this space for more!

🐭 Nest box check! It’s been a great year for hazel dormouse sightings at our reserves! These protected mammals are sadly declining but careful monitoring helps us track their health & numbers. 🌳Discover Devon's woodland wildlife👉 https://t.co/Dr0wvCQkyb 📸 Claire, DWT

Her chosen tree is growing right along the side of a busy jogging path, and even with my camera pointed at her, most of the people who pass within a few feet of her never even notice her as she sits quietly in her tree, waiting for the curtain of night to start the next act.

Ever wonder how our fish tracking tags are made? 🐟🔍 Here's a look at the encapsulation process inside our Halifax facility. This vital step fills each acoustic tag with a special epoxy-like sealant to make the tags waterproof and safe for implantation. #fishtracking
