Our #CitizenScience study reveals bird collision risks across China—65,633 survey building*days, 3,078 buildings, & 1,000+ volunteers. Key finding: Light & vegetation impact vary by season/scale. Huge thanks to partners & volunteers! @LossLabOSU https://t.co/0PYioQEHqY

With thanks to @LossLabOSU for the heavy lifting to organize and set up, we got to do that cool thing this week that the #students will never, ever forget. [mist-netting and #banding of wild #birds conducted through multiple layers of authorization] #OKState

Welcome to OSU @n_a_gilbert!! And here's a good story. We had our first meet-up to talk shop planned for today. Instead, we found and chased a Bronzed Cowbird (the first record for eastern Oklahoma - pics below) & still managed to talk some shop in the meantime!

Stillwater, Oklahoma tornado today. Luckily it didn't touch down until the storm had moved to the north over rural areas. @sara_loss got this pic of the tornado after we emerged from shelter and as it moved safely away from town

A new study suggests the time plants turn green is coming earlier in the spring than past averages - but migratory birds are not following suit. @LossLabOSU's Scott Loss & Ellen Robertson discuss causes and potential consequences with @NakedScientists ⬇️ https://t.co/DU4iWXSLDQ

Hundreds or more migratory birds like orioles, hummingbirds, Painted Buntings, tanagers, warblers & our state bird Scissor-tailed Flycatcher, will die each year colliding with this building. There are ways to avoid this @MattesonCapital @cityofokc @_Bricktown @oklahoma @ABCbirds

We had a "Little Sit" get together for our lab group this morning (like a mini version of a "Big Sit, which is an all day bird count at one location). It was cold but fun and fueled by donuts and @SMBC bird-friendly coffee!

New paper in @PNASNews by Ellen Robertson! Using #eBird data we show that most migrating #Birds track average (not current) #Plant green-up conditions, leading to decoupling of spring #Migration from earlier spring green-up caused by #ClimateChange https://t.co/BgjT8p7wZf

If this looks familiar, we had a similar opening around a year ago, but the incumbent postdoc landed a great federal gig. In fact, our labs have recently been a great springboard/pipeline for postdocs into permanent federal science & policy positions!

We have an open postdoc position in our lab in collaboration with @CDuchardt lab - focusing on questions around wind energy, CRP, and big data on birds. In person or remote work are both a possibility for this one. Please distribute! https://t.co/m5ugsEJW4g
