8. @DCMS should develop a high profile & well resourced UK #medialiteracyweek to incl. high quality & evidence-based events & resources within schools, libraries, healthcare & other public spaces – to enhance digital, (social) media & algorithmic literacy among all age groups.

7. @educationgovuk & @SciTechgovuk should review provision and evaluate targeted programmes to enhance #digitalliteracy in disadvantaged groups (e.g. accessible & inclusive after school & holiday clubs). Ensure these include critical algorithmic literacy and functional skills.

6. @educationgovuk should develop or adapt creative, interactive and gamified educational tools to make concrete the workings and implications of social media algorithms (e.g. #foryou game by @MediaSmarts & algorithm of disrespect tool .

5. @educationgovuk should provide comprehensive training and #CPD opportunities to teachers delivering the digital literacy curriculum, including both computer science and social studies perspectives. Digital literacy should be seen as the responsibility of all subject teachers.

4. @educationgovuk should introduce a compulsory Key Stage 4 qualification in digital literacy for all young people, with a comprehensive #algorithmicliteracy component. Must extend beyond functional skills to critical literacy, with curriculum input from different perspectives.

3. Updates to the #digitalliteracy curriculum by @educationgovuk should include balanced content - focus on resilience, #digitalcitizenship, active participation & scope for change, e.g. reducing bias in algorithms (as well as #onlineharms).

2. @SWGfL_Official should ensure each strand of the Education for a Connected World framework includes comprehensive consideration and discussion of #algorithms as appropriate, integrating algorithmic literacy within the #PSHE and #digitalskills curricula.

1. @educationgovuk should commission an independent review of digital, (social) media and algorithmic literacy provision across schools. Support teachers to identify the relevance of #digitalliteracy to their subject area and how best to make links in lessons.
