#Jupiter and Io under excellent seeing conditions this morning. A wealth of detail is visible across the planet despite the small-ish apparent size currently. #astrophotography #telescope

I wouldn’t have thought this was possible 5 years ago. This photo of the Triangulum Galaxy wasn’t captured by Hubble, but by a 12” telescope from my suburban backyard. Space is much more accessible than you’d think. This is formatted as a mobile wallpaper for you. More coming!

And finally, here's last night's view of #Saturn - perhaps my favourite image to date. Tethys can be seen in transit alongside its shadow, with Titan also close by. #astrophotography

You may have heard that tonight is your chance to see a rare 'blue supermoon'. A reminder that: - The term 'Blue Moon' was invented in 1937 and has no astronomical significance. - Supermoons look just like any other Full Moon - Looking at the full Moon is always fabulous!

Did anyone else’s camera go a bit ‘odd’ at the onset of the auroral substorm tonight? As it *really* exploded in the sky (with rays at the zenith) my rear LCD display started flickering and showing text over the image. Wondered if it was an electrical effect from the aurora?
